Barbecue Turkey Pizza
This recipe was sent to us by Katie Bryson, one of our online blogger mums. Her challenge was to cook a pizza or pasta meal using for under £10. Here's what she cooked:
What we thought:
The children LOVED the tangy turkey topping and munched their way through it. Arlo went one step further and started eating the barbecue sauce out of the dipping pot with a spoon. 
Essential Ingredient:
Turkey Breast Fillets
For the barbecue sauce:

220g ketchup

4 tbsp dark soft brown sugar

1 tbsp worcester sauce (you can get a vegetarian version)

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

2 tsp wholegrain mustard

For the pizza base:

1 packet crusty white bread mix?Olive oil?230ml lukewarm water

For the topping?:

250g turkey breast meat, cut into thin strips

1 x small tin sweetcorn

1 orange pepper, cut into thin strips

1 bag grated mozzarella

To serve:
Serve with fresh salad.
This delicious pizza has a lovely tangy barbecue sauce.
  1. For the barbecue sauce: heat the ingredients for the sauce in a pan over a gentle heat until they’re well combined. Set aside to cool a little, then pour half of the sauce over the strips of turkey in a bowl and allow to marinate.
  2. For the pizza base: Meanwhile, using the quantities stated on the packet of bread mix, combine the dry and wet ingredients and then knead the resulting dough either in a mixer with a dough hook, or by hand for 5 minutes. Let it rest for 5 minutes and then repeat.
  3. Pre-heat the oven to 220C/200 fan/gas 6. Cut the dough in half and roll and stretch each portion out on a floured surface to fit the size of your baking sheets. Flour the baking sheets and then lay out the dough on top. Prick all over with a fork.
  4. Bake in the top of the oven for 5 minutes to set the base. Loosen the bottom off the baking tray with a pie slice in case it’s got a bit stuck.
  5. For the topping: heat a little oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and then quickly pan fry the marinated turkey strips until cooked through.
  6. Spread the remaining barbecue sauce in a thin layer over each pizza base. Scatter with the cooked turkey, sweetcorn, peppers and finish with the grated mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the top of the oven for 8-10 minutes until golden and bubbling. Carve up and serve with plenty of salad. if you’re lucky enough to have leftovers, keep wrapped in foil in the fridge and fill packed lunches and picnics with them over the next couple of days.
