Jerk turkey pizza
This recipe was sent to us by Becky, one of our online blogger mums. Her challenge was to cook a pizza or pasta meal using turkey. Here's what she thought:

What we thought:
This pizza went down so well it has already been requested again and has affectionately become known as the 'jurkey' pizza. 
Essential Ingredient:
Turkey Steaks
Ingredients
For the pizza base:

350g strong white bread flour

1x7g sachet fast action yeast

1tsb salt

2-3 tbsp rapeseed oil

225ml warm water

For the tomato sauce:

1 red onion

1 tsb salt

2 tsb sugar

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

1 tin good quality chopped tomatoes

For the toppings:

1 pack turkey breast steaks

1 ball mozzarella cheese, grated

Small amount of Parmesan if liked

Smoked streaky bacon, chopped



To serve:
Serve with salad and coleslaw.
This 'jurkey' turkey pizza recipe is sure to be a family favourite.
Method
  1. For the pizza base:
  2. Put the flour, yeast and salt into a bowl. Mix 2tbsp oil and the warm water together. Add the water to the flour, bringing it together until you get a soft dough. You may not need all the water
  3. Knead the dough
  4. Rub some oil around a clean bowl and pop in the dough. Cover the dough in clingfilm, then pop in the airing cupboard or somewhere warm for about an hour or until it's size has doubled.
  5. To make the tomato sauce:
  6. Chop the onion and pop into a pan with some oil.
  7. Sprinkle the salt over the onion then cook it gently until it's translucent.
  8. Add in the sugar, red wine vinegar and tomatoes and cook it gently until it's thick.
  9. For the toppings:
  10. To make the jerk turkey just slice the turkey thinly then fry in a little oil. Sprinkle over a couple of tablespoons of jerk seasoning and cook until just opaque
  11. Get the dough back, punch it down and divide it in two and roll each one out until it's nice and thin.
  12. Spoon the tomato sauce over then add your toppings; grated mozzarella, snipped bacon, pieces of turkey and anything else you like, then simply pop into a hot oven for 10 - 15 minutes.
